{"id":2854,"date":"2021-04-26T14:44:12","date_gmt":"2021-04-26T12:44:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scuoladifallimento.com\/?post_type=avada_portfolio&#038;p=2854"},"modified":"2021-11-18T16:02:29","modified_gmt":"2021-11-18T15:02:29","slug":"skill","status":"publish","type":"avada_portfolio","link":"https:\/\/www.scuoladifallimento.com\/en\/glossary\/skill\/","title":{"rendered":"Skill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Late Old English scele , \u201cknowledge\u201d, from Old Norse skil, \u201cdiscernment\u201d, \u201cknowledge\u201d.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The appearance of the term soft skill, and its opposite, the hard(er) skills, occurred in the 70s in the military.<br \/>\nIt was during a conference held in 1972 in the United States that their categorisation was discussed but also the possibility, with the support of IBM, of creating a \u201ctechnological\u201d way to train and measure troop performance.<\/p>\n<p>Soft skills are <strong>key competences useful for personal and relational and school and professional life no less than hard skills.<\/strong> One set does not exclude the other, rather one amplifies the value of the other set. If a person is competent, productive and adequately trained, and is also motivated, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scuoladifallimento.com\/en\/glossary\/effective-communication\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">communicates effectively<\/a>, is a good <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scuoladifallimento.com\/en\/glossary\/listening\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">listener<\/a> and an excellent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scuoladifallimento.com\/en\/glossary\/problem-solving\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">problem solver<\/a> then his value will certainly be greater than just knowing something and knowing how to do it.<br \/>\nBy hard skill we mean technical-specialist skills, specific to each industry sector, which are learned through studying and on-the-job; they are impersonal skills and therefore easy to evaluate. Soft skills are a set of cross skills, useful for each profession and <strong>they depend on experiential baggage and individual attitudes; they are personal and therefore difficult to measure.<\/strong><br \/>\nHard skills say what and how much we know;
