{"id":2938,"date":"2021-05-04T17:40:12","date_gmt":"2021-05-04T15:40:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scuoladifallimento.com\/?post_type=avada_portfolio&#038;p=2938"},"modified":"2021-11-18T16:00:44","modified_gmt":"2021-11-18T15:00:44","slug":"focus-on-the-present","status":"publish","type":"avada_portfolio","link":"https:\/\/www.scuoladifallimento.com\/en\/glossary\/focus-on-the-present\/","title":{"rendered":"Focus on the present"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>From Latin, focus \u201cfire\u201d, \u201cdomestic hearth\u201d, derived \u201cto focus\u201d, \u201cpoint of convergence of attention\u201d, from Latin, prae \u201cbefore\u201d and sum \u201care\u201d, \u201cthe thing that is placed before\u201d, \u201coffer\u201d, \u201cgift\u201d.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When we perform a task or work on a project, so absorbed by what we are doing that we lose track of time, then it means we have experienced what it means to \u201cbe in the flow\u201d (or \u201cto be in a state of flow\u201d), that is <strong>being in a state of full immersion in an activity, in which the sense of self is lost.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The resulting sensation is all-encompassing, a mix of total focus and maximum pleasure, a state of concentration so complete that it allows us to keep the goal and the final result in mind we want to achieve, while we get lost completely in our task.<br \/>\nBeing in the flow is engaging and enjoyable, and often better results are obtained when we are in this state: ego disappears, time flies or seems to stop as we are so focussed on the present and every action and thought inevitably flows on from the previous one. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Being in the state of flow makes us almost impervious to external distractions, oversights and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scuoladifallimento.com\/en\/glossary\/make-a-mistake\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">blunders<\/a> and promotes implicit or unconscious <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scuoladifallimento.com\/en\/glossary\/learning\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">learning<\/a>: we learn by acting, stopping, falling and focussing on the experience of the present moment.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From Latin, focus \u201cfire\u201d, \u201cdomestic hearth\u201d, derived \u201cto focus\u201d, \u201cpoint <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scuoladifallimento.com\/en\/glossary\/focus-on-the-present\/\"> [&#8230;]<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"menu_order":26,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"portfolio_category":[81],"portfolio_skills":[],"portfolio_tags":[106],"class_list":["post-2938","avada_portfolio","type-avada_portfolio","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","portfolio_category-glossary","portfolio_tags-f"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.0 -
